The Flood Information Centre and Bureau of Meteorology advises that the South-East corner, including Brisbane and its surrounds, is likely to experience higher than normal tides as a result of the east coast low currently predicted to cross the Queensland coast near Rockhampton as a category 1 Tropical Cyclone on Friday 20 February.
It is predicted that the effects of the low will begin impacting the south eastern areas of the State tomorrow with conditions worsening over Friday as the low intensifies into a Tropical Cyclone. It is expected that this event will bring heavy rainfall, strong winds, showers and storms which may increase the risk of localised flooding tomorrow, Friday and possibly Saturday.
