Dear Members, Players, Coaches, Managers and Parents

Eastern Suburbs Football Club (“Easts”) attaches below a recent memorandum from Football Queensland on the Coronavirus (COVID-19).

Easts strongly recommends everyone reads this memo, along with the reading the links regarding how to reduce the risk of contacting the Coronavirus.

Of particular and practical importance is to ensure:

  1. Using thorough handwashing techniques and anti-bacterial hand gels.
  2. No sharing of fruit or water bottles.
  3. How we greet and interact with other players/opponents to minimise contact with other participants in and around the football field. This would extend to not having to shake hands before and after the match as an example.

Kind regards

Glen Brown

FFA Update on the Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Football Federation Australia has issued a circular for all members and clubs regarding the COVID-19 (coronavirus).

View the FFA Circular here.

FFA has encouraged all participants to refer to the dedicated COVID-19 website that has been created by the Australian Institute of Sport, and contains specific advice on the coronavirus relevant to sport. View the website here.

FFA recommends that all participants follow the Australian Government’s guidelines as to how to reduce the risk of contracting coronavirus, including using thorough handwashing techniques and anti-bacterial hand gels. Find out more here.

It is also recommended that participants reassess how they greet people on a day-to-day basis, and how they can minimise contact with other participants in and around the football field.

FFA and Football Queensland will continue to monitor the development of the coronavirus and provide additional information as it becomes available.
